In 1995, the Vietnamese government launched the Nationwide Film Revival Program and aimed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Resistance Day. Telefilm "Live Forever with the Capital" was a project with a huge budget to recreate the setting of Hanoï from winter 1946 to early February 1947. Its key material was the works about Hanoï by late author Nguyễn Huy Tưởng. Immediately after the failure of the Vietnam-France Preliminary and Provisional Agreements, French paratroopers openly provoked in Haïphong and Hanoï, even arrested and murdered civilians to probe Việt-Minh's reactions. Both Việt-Minh and France were silently preparing for a fierce battle right in the center of Hanoï city. However, the film delves deeply into the psychology and fate of Hanoian people during those hard days. It is not an epic like many political propaganda films, but it just tries to reflect a period when small Vietnamese persons had to rise up to protect the dignity of their entire nation. Overall this film is immersed in the colors of blood and flowers, along with the majestic melodies of Nguyễn Đình Thi, Hoàng Hà, Hoàng Lương and Văn Cao.
